Our Veterinary Team
At V.E.T. Care Hospital, our veterinarians, technicians, and client care team take the time to get to know you and your pet.
Compassion, integrity, teamwork, excellence, respect
Credentials, Experience, and Familiar Faces
Our team brings experience in general veterinary care, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and exotic pet medicine. Dr. Carlos Gibbs has owned our Burleson practice for more than two decades, and our technicians bring training from veterinary programs across Texas. Several team members are continuing their education.
Many of us have worked together for years. We enjoy getting to know our clients and their pets, and that familiarity helps us recognize changes from one visit to the next.

Dr. Carlos Gibbs, DVM
Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Carlos Gibbs is the owner and veterinarian behind V.E.T. Care Hospital. For him, veterinary medicine is about more than treating an illness; it is about building relationships with pets and the people who love them.
Dr. Gibbs believes in taking the time to listen, explain what is happening, and help clients understand the options available for their pet’s care. His approach focuses on thoughtful, practical medicine while treating every patient as an individual. Clients have come to know him for his knowledge, compassion, straightforward communication, and commitment to doing what is best for their pets.
As the owner of an independent, family-owned hospital, Dr. Gibbs is proud that V.E.T. Care remains a place where clients are known by name and relationships grow over many years.
When he isn’t caring for patients, Carlos enjoys spending time with his wife, Zelda, and their animals. Life on the farm gives him plenty of opportunities to be outdoors, work with his hands, and enjoy the animals and quieter side of country living.
For Carlos, caring for animals isn’t something that ends when he leaves the hospital; it is simply part of everyday life.
Dr. Carissa Dale, DVM
Veterinarian
Carissa Dale, DVM, grew up in Joshua, Texas. Her love for animals was very evident at an early age. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches for undergraduate and graduate school. She later received her DVM from Texas A&M University. Inspired early in her journey by her veterinary mentor, she developed a passion for quality medicine, particularly internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Dale practiced in East Texas for 4 years. After she and her husband got married, she then moved back to DFW and started relief veterinary work. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Dale enjoys baking, hiking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. She is a dedicated pet parent to a full house of animals, including Sheldon- a 9 year old Golden Retriever mix, Gus- an 8 year old Golden Retriever, Gatsby- a 4 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and finally, Merlin- a 13 year old Domestic Longhair cat.
Dr. Zelda Gibbs, PHD, MSN, RN, CNE
Director of Implementation
Zelda Gibbs serves as the Director of Implementation at V.E.T. Care Hospital, where she works behind the scenes to help the hospital, its team, and its people thrive. From supporting and developing team members to improving the client experience and planning for the hospital’s future, Zelda is passionate about making V.E.T. Care a place where both people and pets feel genuinely cared for.
As part of a family-owned, independent veterinary hospital, Zelda believes there is something special about knowing the people and families we serve. She is committed to preserving the personal, welcoming atmosphere of V.E.T. Care as the hospital continues to grow.
Originally from South Africa, Zelda now calls Texas home. When she isn’t at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Carlos, their dogs, cat, and blue-and-gold macaw, as well as fishing, gardening, and oil painting.
Hailey
Clinical Manager
Hailey manages clinical operations at V.E.T. Care Hospital and has been with the practice since 2020. She came from a corporate veterinary environment and was drawn to the small-town feel here, where relationships matter, and familiar faces become part of the routine.
She trained through a veterinary technician program at the University of Texas at Arlington. Growing up, she was the child who tried to bring every stray dog home. Not every rescue attempt worked, but the instinct stuck.
Her favorite part of the role is still the connection with pets and their families, especially helping a nervous patient relax by the end of a visit. Originally from Arlington, Hailey moved here five years ago. Outside the hospital, she shops, cooks, and spends time with her three children.
Monse
Veterinary Technician
Monse first walked into V.E.T. Care Hospital as a high school senior completing an internship. After finishing her hours, she was hired part-time, and she joined the team full time as a veterinary technician after graduation.
Seeing an animal in pain creates an immediate desire to help, and that instinct still shapes how she approaches every patient. She especially enjoys pet dentistry, where the difference between a dirty mouth and a clean one shows up in a single visit. Exotic animal exams are another favorite, since each species brings something new to the day.
Raised in El Paso, Texas, Monse spends her time outside work with her dog and her fish tanks.
Taylor
Veterinary Technician
Taylor joined V.E.T. Care Hospital in February and has spent her first months gaining hands-on experience as a veterinary technician.
Her first day set the tone. A patient named Niko had just had a front leg amputated, and Taylor expected a long recovery ahead. Instead, Niko woke up playful and already moving around, more comfortable than he had been with the leg. It was a fast lesson in what veterinary medicine can do for an animal’s quality of life.
Assisting with surgery is her favorite part of the job, and every procedure teaches her something. Taylor grew up mostly in the area and now lives nearby with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Trigger. She fishes on the lake when she gets the chance.
Sarah
Veterinary Technician
Sarah grew up with a dog named Moose, from the age of 15 until she was 23. Caring for him through every stage of his life gave her a firsthand understanding of what people and their pets mean to each other.
She started in veterinary medicine as a kennel technician and bather, then moved into the treatment area and learned alongside experienced technicians.
What she enjoys most is helping clients understand their pets’ health, since she considers education one of the field’s most valuable tools. She also has a strong interest in our in-house laboratory and imaging work, from bloodwork and radiographs to cytology.
Originally from Port Townsend, Washington, Sarah shares her home with three dogs, two cats, a veiled chameleon, and several well-fed porch cats. She journals, paints, and is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.
Azaley
Veterinary Technician
I started in Montana but moved to Texas in high school. I currently live on a ranch in Grandview working as a part-time manager. I have two dogs, a mare, and a love of all four legged animals.
Alison
Customer Relationship Manager
Alison joined V.E.T. Care Hospital in 2021 and now manages client relationships for the practice. She met her husband, Kamryn, because he rescued a dog she had grown attached to named Cho. Years later, Cho is still by her side.
Animals run through her family. Her mother worked as a veterinary technician and her grandfather broke horses, so animal care was part of daily life from an early age. She took her first job at a boarding and breeding facility at 15, then built a career across grooming, boarding, and veterinary medicine.
She enjoys helping pet owners learn how to care for their companions, and she counts earning a hesitant patient’s trust as a good day. Originally from Oak Cliff in Dallas, Alison hikes, camps, and backpacks. She and Kamryn share their home with five dogs, a cat named Sleepy, and a pig named Stu.
Amy Comeau
Receptionist
Since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to work in the veterinary field. Growing up, my family regularly adopted pets from the local shelters and that passion for helping animals has stayed with me throughout my life. Nearly four years ago, I joined the veterinary profession to fulfill that dream and make a difference in the lives of pets and their families. I am committed to providing compassionate care and creating the best experience for both clients and their pets.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three kids, and our fur babies. I also love riding motorcycles with friends, making memories with family, making memories with family, and enjoying all that life has to offer.
Damaris
Receptionist
Damaris joined V.E.T. Care Hospital as a receptionist, encouraged by her sister, Monse, who also works here. She welcomes clients, gets to know their animals, and sets the tone from the moment someone walks through the door.
Growing up in El Paso, Texas, as the oldest of three sisters, she developed a love for animals early and later earned a biology degree in San Antonio. Her favorite part of the job is learning the traits and quirks that make each breed and species different.
Her miniature dachshund, Maple, greets nearly every passerby at the farmers market. At home, Maple races around the living room with her sister’s pug, Lilo. Damaris hopes to continue her education in sonography.
